The Aurora village project
We’re rethinking temporary living.
Developed in Luleå as part of the transformation towards fossil-free industry, it is one of Sweden’s largest worker accommodation projects, designed to house around 2,000 people over several years. Its role is both practical and essential, providing the conditions needed to support a growing workforce in a region undergoing rapid change.
At the same time, Aurora challenges the idea of what worker accommodation can be. Rather than a collection of buildings, it is planned as a functioning community, with a clear structure, shared spaces and a central hub that brings people together. Architecture, interiors and services are shaped to support wellbeing, routine and a sense of belonging.
